Are you allowed to set off fireworks on Vlieland on New Year's Eve?
-
No, since 1 August 2026 a ban on consumer fireworks applies throughout the Netherlands, so also on Vlieland at the turn of the year.
- What is still allowed: small category F1 fireworks, such as sparklers and snaps, from the age of 12.
- Firework displays: professional displays with a permit are still allowed, as are fireworks by clubs or foundations with an exemption from the municipality.
- From abroad: fireworks you bring yourself, for example from Germany or Belgium, are also banned; only F1 is allowed. There are extra checks in the border areas.
- What to expect: despite the ban, probably not everyone will stick to it this year yet, but it will be a lot quieter than in previous years. Especially at holiday parks, little to no fireworks are expected.
