Stables Edda - Equestrian sports

At stables Edda, the Icelandic horse stables of the island, outdoor rides are organised all year round, allowing you to explore the most beautiful parts of Vlieland on horseback with an experienced guide: through the forests, over the dunes and of course along the wide beach.

Types of outdoor rides

Stables Edda offers various rides, tailored to level and season:

• Short rides (1, 1½ or 2 hours): These rides take you through forest and dunes and often end with a beautiful stretch along the beach. Ideal for the experienced rider who wants to discover the island on horseback.
• Spring and autumn rides: You can also join outside the summer months. These rides take place as soon as there are at least 4 participants.
• Lange Paal ride (approx. 3 hours): An adventurous tour across the heath and the beach to the Lange Paal campsite halfway along the island. Only suitable for experienced riders and bookable from 4 people.
• Posthuys ride (approx. 4 hours): The ultimate ride to the other side of Vlieland. Along the way, you pause after about two hours at the historic Posthuys for lunch (not included). Only for experienced riders and available for groups from 4 people.
