Unique Location: The Cheese Bunker is located in a former drinking water bunker in the Vuurboetsduin, the highest dune of Vlieland, right next to the iconic lighthouse.
Special History: Once built as a drinking water reservoir, the bunker has been used since 2015 for the maturing of organic Vlieland Bunker Cheeses.
Perfect Ageing Climate: Thanks to the constant cool, humid and dark climate, the bunker is an ideal place for the development of cheeses with a distinctive character and taste.
Video Tour & Tasting: Visitors descend independently into the bunker and discover the story of the Cheese Bunker through a video, followed by a tasting of different cheeses.
Blue Cheeses: In a specially sealed area, unique blue cheeses are matured – the result of years of experimenting with recipes and ripening.
Extraordinary Flavours: Taste cheeses ranging from young to extra old, sometimes enriched with surprising flavours such as nettle, cranberry or seaweed – all exclusively available on Vlieland.
Combine with a Walk: Its location in the Vuurboetsduin makes a visit perfect to combine with a walk through the dunes or a climb to the lighthouse.

Location: The Cheese Bunker is located on top of the Vuurboetsduin, near the lighthouse. Access via the wide shell path from the Postweg: at the top, turn left up the dune, follow the path as it curves up, and after 50 metres you will find the bunker on the right.
