Lighthouse of Vlieland

If you want a beautiful view over Vlieland, you should definitely climb the lighthouse. To reach the top of the Vuurboetsduin, you'll need to climb 42 metres. This dune is the highest of the Wadden Islands, and it proudly hosts the lighthouse.

The lighthouse of Vlieland is located on the 42-metre-high Vuurboetsduin, just outside the village of Oost-Vlieland. The lighthouse itself is only 18 metres tall. As soon as it gets dark, the lighthouse's light automatically starts to shine.

Every lighthouse has its own character, and that of the Vlieland lighthouse is 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off. From the lighthouse, you can enjoy a fantastic view over the island, the North Sea, and the Wadden Sea. The climb is quick as the tower only has 51 steps.
