Bunker Museum Wn 12H

Bunker Museum Wn 12H on Vlieland is a restored German strongpoint of the Atlantic Wall, hidden in the dunes. You walk past 11 bunkers, trenches, lookouts and gun positions.
What can you expect at Bunker Museum Wn 12H?
History: From 1942 the Germans built three bunker complexes in Vlieland's sea dunes. In 1951 Wn 12H was deliberately buried under sand. It is the only strongpoint to survive; the others were demolished or lost to dune erosion. Volunteers dug it out and restored it. The museum has been open since spring 2020.
Opening hours: In the reception bunker an exhibition tells of life on Vlieland during the war. A short film covers the islands and the Atlantic Wall.
- Highlights: Highlights of Wn 12H are:
- The medium-heavy anti-aircraft gun (Flak) on display outside.
- The trench route past living-quarter bunkers, the kitchen bunker and a wooden command bunker.
Practical information
- Accessibility: Only the reception bunker is wheelchair accessible. The trenches have narrow paths and stairs.
